Simon Durbridge

Audio Signal Processing Consultant

Music Technology · Interactive Media · Spatial Audio

I specialize in product development and research in music technology involving real-time audio signal processing within embedded systems.

About

I am a specialist signal processing consultant working in the music technology space. I have worked on a range of products including embedded systems, plugins, desktop and mobile applications.

My key speciality is the programming of Analog Devices SHARC+ & SHARC-FX digital signal processors. I am also interested in technical development and design of audio systems for video games and interactive media.

The most successful product I have worked on is the Neural DSP Quad Cortex — a multi-core SHARC+ based multi-FX system. I have also worked on the Formation series of loudspeakers for Bowers & Wilkins.

I completed my PhD in Electronic Engineering in the Audio Lab at the University of York, studying physiological sensing and binaural rendering in the context of lab-based soundscape evaluation.
